A Rare Occurance

I don't normally go fishing as much as I would like too. So this was a fun time to go with Dad and Cody down around Fish Lake. Dad, Cody, and I were fly fishing in some of the rivers and creeks. For two days we didn't catch a single note worth fish. Then I decided to try a spinner in a deep part of the river. This is the only fish caught the whole trip. I didn't even use power bait.

Another busy week for our family

I don’t think we’ve spent one night at home or doing any unpacking for an entire week. We never thought that moving to this close to family would mean seeing them every day!! Just kidding, we love it and Kyler is having a great time playing with all the cousins. Here is our week in review.

Marilyn’s Birthday (6/10)
We celebrated Marilyn’s 55th birthday. The family took the birthday princess to Cutler’s for dinner and birthday cookies and then went to Kaysville Theater to see Horton Hears a Who. She was so cute about being the birthday girl and had to wear her tiara the entire night. Kyler really enjoyed his birthday cookie!

BBQ at Tyler and Katie’s (6/11)
Our cousins Tyler and Katie had us over along with Brooke and Cody for a BBQ. We’ve been saying for months, maybe years that we need to get together more often and now we live in the same neighborhood so it just might happen. It was a lot of fun to see them and their cute house and adorable baby girl.

He also thought he was a baby still and had to get into all of Sienna's stuff.

Logan Trip (6/12)
Thursday we had our ultrasound up in Logan so we decided to make a day of it. We went to Café Sabor for lunch, visited friends at Career Services, and wandered around Summerfest. It is basically a bunch of outdoor shops, bands playing, and food stands on the Tabernacle grounds that Blake and I enjoy. It felt like we never left Logan and I expected us to drive back to our old house. Train Tracks by Cafe Sabor. There wasn't even a train there today but Kyler was still excited.

Surf N Swim work party (6/13)
Friday night was my work’s annual summer party. We eat BBQ and go swimming at Surf n Swim. My sister joined us with her two kids and my dad brought my other three nephews. Kyler loves the water and kept taking waves right in the face. It didn’t even faze him. As the evening went on the only way we got him to stop was it got cool for him in the water. (He’s used to swimming in a heated therapy pool.)

Don’s 80th Birthday (6/14)
We spent the day at Barnes Park celebrating my uncle’s 80th birthday. Kyler was in heaven with the cousins, the playground, and all the open space to run around. While I met some cousins on my dad’s side I’ve never even met before. We had a really nice time even with all the heat.

Father’s Day (6/15)
We finished off the week with BBQ number 4. I don’t think Blake or I can eat for another week. We started off with a brunch with Blake’s family. We had a delicious waffle bar with all kinds of fresh fruit our on our new deck using our fun new patio set (graduation present from my dad). That evening we went to my sister’s house for a delicious steak and baked potatoes dinner. Kyler loves it over there. He ran around the back yard chasing his cousin Alex and playing on the swing set. When the time came it took both parents to get him out to the car to go home.

Charlie (Brooke and Cody's dog) keeps trying really hard to make friends with Nala (our cat) but she still isn't up for it. She is getting better and actually comes out of the back room with no hissing or fluffed up tail.

Kyler 2 Year Birthday (6/1 and 6/7)

Birthday Loves from Grandpa
Kyler’s official birthday was the day after we moved into our new house. We were all exhausted and the house was a mess so lucky for us he doesn’t understand birthday’s yet and we pushed it off a week. Saturday we celebrated and went to the zoo with family and cousins and then more people joined us for Thomas the Train cake at the park. It was so fun to see him get excited about the animals and he loved the slide at the park by our house. I think we’ll be spending a lot of time there this summer. Yummy Chocolate cake. Really it only lasted for a few messy bites and then he wanted back to the slide. We got him back for a few minutes to open presents.

The Process of Moving

We spent most of our memorial weekend packing up boxes in preparation for the move out of Logan. As the time came closer Blake and I both realized all the little things we like so much about this area. We are glad to still be close enough to still see friends, visit our favorite restaurants, come back for demolition derbys, and take drives through the canyon when the leaves change colors.

I started my new/old job on May 27th and it has been great. I love the people I work with and what I do. It hasn’t fully set in that I’m not an intern anymore and I keep expecting to leave in Aug. to go back to school.
On Saturday the 31st we received the keys to our new place and officially moved in. We had everything already boxed up and really to go in Logan. We got a lot of great help from friends and guys in our old ward to help load up the moving truck. The only excitement of the day we refer to as the piano incident. While trying to move our heavy piano down the deck stairs the bottom stairs gave way and caused a chain reaction of the top stairs breaking too. We were very lucky that no one fell through or got hurt as the stairs turned into a ramp. It caused some delay as we had to do some stair repair before we could move the rest of the large stuff out.

Everything went smoothly moving into the new house and all I wanted to do was sleep for the next 3 days (and I didn’t even have to move any heavy boxes)! Overall it went well and THANKS to everyone that helped out.

KYLER IS GETTING A SISTER!

So Monica is still planing on posting some more adventures from the last month, but I thought I would announce that we are having a LITTLE GIRL!!!!! I am so excited!!!! This will be great to have a good mixture, Monica was feeling a little lonely with all the boy stuff in the house! Now she can finally buy a dress for a little girl instead of buying them for Kyler. So you will notice no pictures, that is because we can't find the scanner or the other computer for that matter.

Catching Up (What we did in May)

With the graduating, packing up the house, moving, trying to unpack, on top of chasing a 2 year old and starting a new full time job there hasn’t been a lot of time to post all of the fun things we have been up to lately. As a result this will be one of two giant postings letting you see just a glimpse of the crazy fun exciting past months.

Thomas the Train (5/23)

The Heber Creeper does a Thomas the Train weekend so we decided to take Kyler. We met my sister and her kids to ride the train, play with trains, look at trains, and of course eat cotton candy. He was in train overload and loved every minute of it. The weather was a little cold but we picked the right day because it rained the rest of the weekend.

Willow Park with Friends (5/20)

This is our last week in Logan so I gave Kyler a break from packing up boxes and went to Willow Park. We met up with some friends Emili and Avery. Kyler is used to following around his older cousins so I think he liked being the bigger one for a change. He kept trying to be helpful catching Avery on the slide. He loved the slide, the swing, and especially throwing rocks in the river.

He will actually stop (for a second) and say cheese at the camera now but he usually looks mad or his top teeth disappear.
